When is the registration deadline?

Online registration for the 2021 HOKA Chicago Half Marathon and 5K presented will close when the maximum combined field of 9,000 participants has been reached or until midnight Tuesday, September 21, whichever occurs first. Should space remain, on-site registration will be available at the Expo.

How do I confirm my entry to the Chicago Half Marathon?

Where do I get my bib, shirt and goody bag?

You must pick up all of this at Packet Pick Up during the Healthy Way of Life Expo. Only those who purchased the Will Call option may pick up their packet on race morning.

May I defer to next year?

You may defer to next year by logging onto your RunSignup account here. To defer your registration, please follow the instructions here.

Can I switch from one distance to another?

Yes. As Race Day approaches and you feel that the distance you originally registered for is no longer appropriate, you may transfer your entry to the other distance in-person at the Solutions kiosk at the Expo.

NOTE: Anyone wishing to transfer from the 5K to the Chicago Half Marathon (upgrade) must pay a race change fee PLUS the difference in registration fees. Service fees apply. Those transferring from the Chicago Half Marathon to the 5K will not be charged a change fee and will not be refunded the difference in race fees.

Registration Change Fees:

Prior to Tuesday, Sept 21 at 9:00 p.m. (online only): $30

After Tuesday, Sept 21 at 9:00 p.m. (in-person, at Expo only): $30

There are absolutely NO REFUNDS. Please ensure you are able to attend the event before signing up.

How do I pick up my shuttle bus pass?

Shuttle pass assignments/tickets will be applied to the athletes’ bibs, relative to the location and time indicated during registration.

Is there a VIP registration option?

Yes; limited VIP passes will be available for purchase at the Expo until space is full.

I have a friend who cannot participate in the event, may I take his/her place?

No. Each participant must have his/her own registration. In the event of an  emergency, race officials must have emergency contact information on hand, therefore you are NOT allowed to participate using another person’s registration.

Will there be on-site parking?

The best option for general (public) parking is at the Museum Of Science and Industry garage located at 57th Street and Cornell. This lot will open at 5:00 a.m.

How will the Chicago Half Marathon Series medals be awarded?

Series medals will be handed out at the Chicagoland Half Marathon Series tent located in the center of the Finish Festival immediately following the race. See the Chicagoland Half Marathon Series section in the Athlete Guide for more information.

What do I need to pick up my race packet?

Please bring your valid photo ID and confirmation email to the Packet Pick Up kiosks at the Expo in order to receive your bib. Bib numbers will be emailed prior to race weekend.

Can a friend pick up my packet?

Yes, the friend/family picking up the packet will need to bring a copy of the athlete’s photo ID (a digital copy of the ID on a cell phone will suffice).

Shuttle Service

Can I change my shuttle pick up location from my original selection?

The shuttles are complimentary. Therefore, changes are not being accepted to shuttle pick up location and time.

My plans have changed, and I no longer need the shuttle. What should I do?

Please visit and inform staff at the Info Booth Transportation kiosk at the Healthy Way of Life Expo.

I purchased Race Day Will Call, but will not have my bib/shuttle ticket prior to boarding the shuttle bus, what can I do?

Simply indicate that you have purchased Will Call to Shuttle Staff. Lists of all Race Day Will Call purchases will be provided at all loading locations. To simplify the process, we also encourage you to present a printed copy of your email confirmation.
