Registration Changes

Need to change your race distance? Click here to log into your RunSignUp account. Select “Manage Registration > Transfer Event” to choose a new distance. If you are choosing a race option that costs more than your original, you will be charged the difference in registration fees. There are no refunds for a lower cost race option. Category changes within a distance can be completed for you by email to the Athlete Services team.  The last day for online changes is September 13, 2020. Need to change your race distance post-deadline? No distance changes are guaranteed after the deadline, but we will try our best to accommodate your request. Please email our Athlete Services team at for your options or visit us at Solutions at Packet Pickup.


Deferrals allow a participant unable to attend this year’s event to transfer their registration to the following year. Deferrals are available until September 20, 2020. The deferral is applied only to the event in question, in this case the 2020 Hoka One One Chicago Half Marathon & 5K.Deferrals can only be applied to the same event, the following year and cannot be carried over multiple years. Ifyou would like to defer your entry to next year, please follow these instructions:

  1. Login to your RunSignUp account
  2. Select “View/Edit Registration”
  3. Select “Defer Registration” and follow steps to defer

Please noteA deferral fee of $40.00 will be administered at this time. Once you complete your purchase, you will be sent an email confirmation of your deferral status. You will be emailed instructions to register for the 2021 event after the 2020 event passes. You must follow these instructions to register for the 2021 event and follow deadlines- your registration will NOT automatically roll over.
