Directions

Getting to The Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon:

The Museum of Science and Industry is located 5 miles south of downtown Chicago and is right along the lakefront. While Lake Shore Drive is the most direct route, we encourage you to take alternate routes, especially if you are not an early bird! We expect closures along Lake Shore Drive to begin as early as 6:45am so be sure to plan accordingly. Allow more than adequate time to park, get acclimated to our staging area, hydrate, stretch, use the toilet facililities, check gear and get to the start line!

Directions:

From I-94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) - from the north or south, exit at Garfield and go east, entering Washington Park just past King Drive. Proceed to Payne. Go south on Payne to Midway Plaisance and Cottage Grove. Take a right (go north) and immediately take a left onto 60th Street. Park along 60th Street. The start is just a few blocks east at Cornell and Midway Plaisance.

From Lakeshore Drive - Take Lake Shore Drive south to 57th street. You will be directed to area parking lots and available streer parking, but be sure to arrive as early as possible to receive proper direction and still get yourself to the start line!

Parking

Due to the record number of participants in this year’s race, we strongly encourage runners to carpool or to sign up for our race day shuttle service. Remember, race morning is the final key step after many months of preparation. Be sure to plan to ahead and be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to park, check gear, stretch and hydrate.  Don’t jeopardize your success by being in a rush!

•  Street parking is available on 59th and 60th Streets between Stony Island and Cottage Grove on the University of Chicago campus. This one mile stretch of parking along Midway Plaisance is located just blocks west of the start line and offers parking for hundreds of cars. Buses will shuttle racers who park along these streets to the race start area.

•  There is a free parking lot on the corner of 60th and Stony Island.

•  For a visual overview of parking options, be sure to print out a course map.

•  Limited spots are available at The Museum of Science and Industry lot, which opens on race day at 5 a.m. Museum parking costs $12.

•  Give yourself time! Area streets will begin to close by 6:45 a.m.
